Carolyn Boyd is a born and raised Chicagoan. She currently works as a Software Engineering Associate Manager for Accenture, LLP. Carolyn is no stranger to NSBE being a member for 20 years. She began her NSBE journey with Chicago State’s Pre Freshman Engineering program where she was introduced to NSBE Jr. in 1996. After completing NSBE Jr., she graduated to the collegiate level where she held many positions on the Executive Board (Programs Chair and Chair) at the University of Illinois-Chicago and in 2005 Carolyn became the 2005-2006 R4 Programs Chair. After graduating with her BS in Electrical Engineering in 2006 Carolyn began her career as a System Engineer for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, IA. She also held the position as the 2006-2007 National Convention Planning Committee vice Chair and assisted with the chartering of the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor Alumni Chapter. Carolyn realized that her commitment does not stop in college, but continues as Alumni. In 2007 she held the position as the 2007-2008 R5 Alumni Pre Collegiate Initiative Chair, 2008-2011 National Alumni Pre-College Initiative Chair, 2011-2012 National Technical Professional Conference Project Manager, 2012-2013 R4 Alumni Finance Chair, 2014-2015 R4 PEB Secretary, 2015-2016 R4 Chair Elect, and currently is the R4 PEB Chair. Throughout these many years she has used the tools and resources that NSBE provided her in all her leadership training. Back then she never realized how this information would help her be successful in the future. By continuing her NSBE journey she definitely is living the NSBE Mission.
