Maurice Patterson, 29, is a Lead Systems Security Engineer for the Naval Air Systems Command. With seven (7) years of professional experience, Maurice has worked on projects from Unmanned Aerial Systems to Missile Programs.

Maurice received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia (GO HOOS!!!) in May 2010. In May 2015, he then received his Masters of Science in Engineering Management from George Washington University.

Maurice is the 2017-2018 National Professionals Chair. He has been a member of NSBE since 2006. He served as Chapter Historian, Senator, and Fundraising Chair while at UVA. As a NSBE Professional, he has served as Chapter Programs Chair, Chapter Secretary, Chapter President, Regional Telecommunications Chair, Regional Secretary, Young Technical Professionals Region II Representative, and National Professionals Chair-Elect. During his two (2) year stent as President of the Southern Maryland Professionals he led the chapter to 2014-2015 Region II Chapter of the Year, 2014-2015 National Professionals Chapter of the Year, 2015-2016 Region II Chapter of the Year, 2015-2016 National Professionals Talent Development Program of the Year, and 2015-2016 GTA Pre-College Program of the year. Also during this time, Maurice was recognized as a 2014 Modern Day Technology Leader, 2014-2015 Region II Member of the Year, and a 2015 DMV Top 30 under 30.

Born and raised in Petersburg, VA, Maurice was always a stand out scholar. Understanding the importance of giving back is why he is continually engaged in NSBE. For the past 3 years, he has been the robotics coach for the Southern Maryland NSBE Jr. Gear Grinders. In January 2016, he also founded DreameWorld, a non-profit focused on providing scholarships and additional S.T.E.A.M. activities to the community.

Maurice currently resides in Lexington Park, MD.
