Crystal Watkins is the 2016 – 2017 NSBE Professional College Initiative Chairperson. One key area for her this year is to increase the number of recent graduates into the professional chapters, along with strengthening the professional college initiative programs currently in place.


Crystal is also currently the Outreach Coordinator of the NSBE Detroit Professional Chapter and Secretary of the Kelly Services Club of Toastmasters International. Frequently, she is honored for her contributions in her profession, the community and through her leadership skills, Crystal has served as College Initiative Chairperson for Region Four NSBE Professionals for two terms. She is a NSBE representative for the Coalition of Minority Professional Engineering Societies (COMPES) and STEM mentor for the Society of Women’s Engineers (SWE). Crystal is a servant leader and is an active member of the Detroit Chapter of Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and New Life Family Church, Detroit MI. Crystal participates in various community service activities and projects, including the African Body Adornment Project.

Crystal holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems, both from the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan. 


In her spare time she loves to ballroom dance, read books (member of Books and Brunch Detroit) and thrift shop.
