Graduate School Conference Coordinator Welcome Letter
Greetings NSBE and Welcome Graduate Students and Prospective Graduates!
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the 38th Annual Convention held in Pittsburgh, PA. Our convention theme is “The NSBE Blueprint: Teamwork, Leadership and Inspiration”. A framework which incorporates the skills, attitudes, and knowledge necessary to help you design, implement and evaluate your own personal academic and career development plans.
We are excited about offering you an eventful programming experience that will address your unique concerns and curiosities as well as give you the tools you need to go forth designing or refining your own personal “blueprints”. Being a current graduate student myself, I realize and understand the various curiosities, concerns, and fears that can arise when trying to navigate through the graduate process. As your 2012 Graduate School Conference (GSC) Coordinator, it is my goal to ensure that we exceed in meeting your expectations by offering programming and workshop tracks that are specific to your needs.
Some of our tentative program highlights include:
- GSC Kickoff Breakfast
- Student – Faculty Reception
- GRE/GMAT Testing & Strategies
- MBA/MS/PhD Applicant Consultations
- Graduate Student Technical Talks
- Corporate Roundtables
- Exploring Alternative Careers Panel
- MBA, Law, and Entrepreneur Panels & Workshops
- Professional Workshops hosted by GEM which include topics such as Why Graduate School?, The Graduate Application Process, Funding Graduate School, Career Management, Negotiating your first Employment Contract, Networking for Professionals & Grad Students, and Voices from the Field: How they Survived

So whether you are a student considering graduate school, a working professional wanting to return to school or a current graduate student, the 2012 Graduate Student Conference has a workshop track with you in mind.
We hope you will be inspired by the speakers and workshops, actively participate in events, competitions and receptions, take advantage of the graduate and career fair as well as the opportunity to expand your professional and social network.
Please check the site regularly for updates on technical speaking opportunities, keynote speakers, workshops, and event registrations. If you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me at ANolden@nsbe.org.
