The purpose of the convention passport is to help you make the most of your conference experience. You will receive a sticker for attending certain events throughout the week. Convention attendees, who wish to participate, can pick up their passport in the NSBE Showcase.

Turn in your passport by 2:00pm on Saturday March 30th. Drop them off at the NSBE information booth or the NSBE Store booth and you may win a prize!

Prizes include:

  •  Raffle for a NSBE Store gift card [2-Collegiate winners, 2-Pre-College Initiative (PCI) winners, 1-Technical Professional Conference (TPC) winner]
  • 50 Graduate School Conference (GSC) participants will receive a $100 check prize courtesy of the GEM GRAD Lab sponsor – Northrop Grumman Corporation.


The registration process is as follows:

Step 1 – First register to attend the Convention via the IMPak system on the NSBE website. This is where you pay to attend the conference and lets us know you are coming.

  • If you are not a member or do not have an IMPAK account , click here to register now.

You can enter registration information on IMPAK without making a payment. This feature is available to allow chapter officers to pay registration for several members. *** Please note that, if your registration is NOT PAID by the deadline, the registration rate will automatically be increased to the Onsite rate.

Step 2 - Second, general attendees should pre-register to participate in specific events on the agenda via EventbriteTM. For example: Luncheons, Tours, and Workshops etc… This is a new process for NSBE and you will need to enter your IMPak registration confirmation number and passcode given upon completion of the first step. The EventbriteTM pre-registration page can be accessed via http://nsbe2013.eventbrite.com/ or by using the “Tickets” feature in the convention Guidebook. [NSBE’s 39th Annual Convention EventbriteTM page is private and password protected. The passcode can be found in your IMPak confirmation email. NSBE Members and general conference attendees who registered in IMPak prior to the EventbriteTM launch should have received separate email on how to proceed with this step by Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. How to Dress 

Upon arriving in Indianapolis on Wednesday, you can wear the #NSBE2013 Convention T-Shirt and casual pants. However, remember that Annual Convention is a business event, requiring business professional attire for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. For those participating in the NSBE 5K and NSBE Fit activities, you may also bring exercise clothing and gym shoes to wear during those events.

Business Professional 
For Young Men: slacks, dress pants, button-up shirt, tie, suit-jacket, dress shoes etc… For Young Women: business suits, either skirted suits (knee length, loose fitting) or tailored pantsuits, shoes with closed-toe and closed heel, and hosiery. Bring clothes you would wear to a job interview. 

Opening Session
Conference attendees are encouraged to wear the official convention T-shirt to opening session on Wednesday March 27, 2013. Each region has a specific color and Non-Members may wear the Gray T-shirt. The regional colors are as follows: Region 1 – Red, Region 2 – Orange, Region 3 – Green, Region 4 – Black, Region 5 – Blue, and Region 6 – Purple. Convention Tees can be purchased online at www.2013Tees.com. They are $6.00 for sizes S-XL and $8.25 for 2X and above.

Golden Torch Awards (GTA)
The Golden Torch Awards is a Black Tie affair. This means that the Ladies are allowed to wear formal/cocktail dresses (below the knee, loose fitting) and full suits. Gentlemen should wear a suit and tie. Cuff links are also appropriate for Gentlemen. Dress shoes should be worn. No Jeans or casual attire allowed. 

We cannot overstress how important appearance will be, not only to you, but to the National Society of Black Engineers as a whole. The dress code will be strictly enforced.
