Message From Your Chair Message From Your Chair

"It was only a number of years ago that I was considering dropping out of college because of poor grades. Sometimes I think back. What if I never joined NSBE? What if I didn’t have mentors to push me? What if I gave up? It’s simple; I wouldn’t be where I am today. I wouldn’t be a college graduate nearing the completion of my second degree. I wouldn’t be in the Operations Leadership Program at UTC. I wouldn’t be National Chair of the National Society of Black Engineers. I wouldn’t be the “Cal” that members are now proud to call “Chairman”. "

This year, be prepared for the fantastic events on the theme “Engineering the Gateway to Success.” Many powerful speakers from all over will be on site to present you — active NSBE members — with the best and the brightest!

Our Regional Directives: “Membership, Leadership and the Pipeline” are embodied in this year’s Annual Convention! It’s your time to step up your Active Membership in NSBE. We will host a multitude of workshops and competitions throughout the week, ranging from GRE Prep to the Boeing Flight Competitions.

Are you ready to step up your Leadership? Consider positions for the 2011–12 Regional Executive Board and National Executive Board. We are now having training calls in Region III for all who want to L.E.A.D. (Leadership Enrichment and Development). Check out www.nsbe.org/region3 for more information. Chapter Senators: We need you! Please make sure you stay informed about what is going on in our Society, and make sure you are present at Annual Convention so your chapter’s voice is heard!
