Stephanie Maxwell joined the Eyewitness News team in January 2015. Stephanie is the co-anchor of Channel 9 Eyewitness News Daybreak on WSOC-TV from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m., Eyewitness News This Morning on TV64 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and Eyewitness News Midday on WSOC-TV.
She’s glad to get back to the Carolinas, a place she’s always called home. Stephanie worked as an anchor/reporter in Greenville/New Bern, N.C., and Greenville, S.C. Most recently, she worked in Jackson, Miss. as 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. anchor.
WWhile in Jackson, Stephanie was named Best News Anchor in 2014 by the Mississippi Associated Press. She also has two Southeast EMMY awards and two Mississippi AP awards for Best Newscast, and a Regional Edward R. Murrow award for Continuing Coverage of the 2010 Yazoo County, Miss., tornado.
In 2007, 2010 and 2013, Stephanie received Southeast EMMY nominations for Best News Anchor. She was also honored to be selected to the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2012.
Stephanie grew up in suburban Atlanta and is a very proud graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. GO HEELS!
When her alarm clock isn’t going off extra early, she enjoys reading, cooking, fantasy football, watching football and basketball, and adding to her shoe collection. She also loves reading and speaking at schools and hosting events in the community.
Stephanie is a member of the UNC Educational Foundation (Rams Club) and a lifetime member of the UNC General Alumni Association, National Association of Black Journalists and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
