Dr. Bright has an established reputation as a clinical informatician with interdisciplinary training who is detail-oriented, consistently producing quality work products within time constraints. Over the years through various clinical rotations and past experience as a pharmacy technician, Dr. Bright has developed an exceptional understanding of advanced clinical concepts and the ability to exchange ideas with clinical stakeholders. She is the first known African American female to obtain a doctorate in the biomedical/medical informatics field and the first African American to obtain a doctorate in this field from Columbia University. As such, she is in high demand for participation in programs and seminars promoting STEM education. Dr. Bright includes in her demanding schedule, committed time to mentoring high school through graduate school students. ‚Äč
Currently, Dr. Bright is an Instructor of Medicine in the Division of General Medical Sciences and the Institute for Informatics at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Bright also serves as a research consultant, providing expertise in the design and enhancement of Health IT tools and systems
