2011 Alumni Extension Technical Scholarship
The National Society of Black Engineers - Alumni Extension will award up to three (3) Technical Scholarships of $2,000 each to deserving graduate students.
Eligibility:
- NSBE member in good academic standing
- Student attending a college/university in the United States
- Accepted or enrolled in a graduate program for the Fall 2011 term
Addition Considerations (NOT REQUIRED):
- New AE-member
- Member of a Special Interest Group (SIG)
- 2+ years remaining in graduate program (note: applicants must have at least one complete year of graduate study left in program)
Required Documentation:
Applicants must submit all of the following via postal mail:
- Proof of acceptance or enrollment in an engineering or science graduate program for the Fall 2011 term.
- One (1) official academic transcript from current institution
- Two (2) letters of recommendation
Applicants must submit the following via NSBE IMPAK:
- Complete NSBE IMPAK ONLINE application
- Resume highlighting your NSBE experience (uploaded via NSBE IMPAK)
- Essay (part of NSBE IMPAK application)
The essay must be 200 - 250 words detailing a technical design, process, or program that NSBE technical professionals (Alumni) or specialists (graduate students) can implement via a new or existing Special Interest Group to improve the quality of life in the Black community.
Incomplete scholarship packets will not be considered!
Award: Three (3) $2,000 Scholarship Awards
The scholarship award winners will be recognized at the 37th Annual Convention in St. Louis, MO.
Online Submission Deadline: December 2, 2011
Unofficial transcripts can be emailed to scholarships@nsbe.org. Please do NOT send Degree Audits. Submissions must be transcripts with member's name, student ID and cumulative GPA listed.

PLEASE NOTE: Although this scholarship does not have a GPA requirement, a transcript is required for application consideration. Please be sure to forward ONE official copy of your official transcript to the NSBE Office prior to the deadline. Only ONE official transcript is needed for ALL scholarships that you apply for.
