Cummins Inc. Corporate Scholarship 2011
Purpose:
- To promote Cummins Inc. commitment to diversity programs
- To create national exposure for Cummins Inc. to potential recruits
- To encourage and reward academic excellence
- To provide a financial support mechanism for African-American college students
Eligibility:
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Current College Sophomore or Junior NSBE member
- All Engineering Majors can apply – Target Majors include Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering
- Must be a financial NSBE member
- Must demonstrate an interest in employment with Cummins Inc. and be available to accept an internship position, if offered.
- Applicants must submit a 250-word maximum essay/statement describing how they will use their education to make a positive impact on the community, contribute toward a more sustainable world in a personal or business manner, and how this scholarship opportunity will advance their career goals and benefit Cummins Inc.
- Applications will be evaluated and the recipient(s) will be selected by Cummins Inc. representatives via the NSBE IMPAK system. Only applications submitted for the Cummins Inc. Scholarship program will be considered for the award.
- Recipient will be eligible for a paid summer internship at a Cummins Inc. location in a position relevant to their career interests, if available. (Acceptance of internship is required to receive scholarship award.)
Application Requirements:
- Complete ONLINE application on NSBE IMPAK System
- Official or unofficial transcript (Spring 2010 or later should be used) for verification of GPA.
- Resume (Submitted during online application process)
- Essay
Award: Four (4) $5,000 Scholarship Awards
- RENEWABLE THROUGH GRADUATION as long as eligibility criteria continue to be met by recipient.
- Award Distribution to the scholar will occur AFTER completion of the internship period.
Online Submission Deadline: January 21, 2011
Unofficial transcripts can be emailed to scholarships@nsbe.org. Please do NOT send Degree Audits. Submissions must be transcripts with member's name, student ID and cumulative GPA listed.

PLEASE NOTE: You MUST post a CONFIRMED GPA between 3.0 and 4.0 for your application to be eligible for judging. Please be sure to forward one official copy of your official transcript to the NSBE Office prior to the deadline. Only ONE official transcript is needed for ALL scholarships that you apply for.
