The Regional Leadership Conference is an opportunity to impact the current and future leaders of the STEM industries and academia, by teaching vital leadership skills from gleaned corporate journeys. RLC participants are future graduates of engineering and engineering-related degree programs at universities across the region. This is not your typical conference. At the RLC, NSBE's incoming officers are able to learn what it means to lead themselves, others and the Society. RLC is comprised of hands-on training and workshops designed to hone leadership skills and provide the foundation for success, today and near future.
This year's Regional Leadership Conference takes place August 8-11, 2019 at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Workshops will focus on the leadership journey centered around the national directive. The theme for RLC is "F.O.C.U.S on Leading With Purpose." F.O.C.U.S. stands for Family, Opportunity, Commitment, Unity, and Servant Leadership.
“F.O.C.U.S on Leading With Purpose” is the foundation for this year’s leadership that will help us keep you engaged and excited, push our organization closer to achieving our 10k goal [to annually graduate 10,000 black engineers], and guide us as we work “to increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community." Throughout the Regional Leadership Conference, we will encourage our membership to grow in their NSBE family through various workshops, networking opportunities, and cross-collaboration activities. We aim to get back to the roots of the Society by remembering what it means to be a servant leader. RLC will set the framework for developing successful leadership and professionalism skills, as well as expectations, which all will be utilized throughout this NSBE term and beyond.
