NSBE recruits collegiate and alumni NSBE members to serve as mentors, teaching engineering concepts in a fun, motivating environment. They are part friend, part counselor, part teacher and the foundation upon which this program is built. You must be at least 18 years of age to participate in the SEEK program.

Application Deadline

Site Lead & Assistant Site lead positions: January 15, 2013

Lead Mentor: March 15, 2013

Mentors: April 1, 2013 (Open until all positions are filled)

*All applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. After initial review of your application, select mentors will be invited to participate in an interview. If you are successful in the application phase, we will contact you for an in person, Webex or phone interview.

Mentors who participated in SEEK 2012 need not re-apply unless applying for Director/ Coordinator Level positions. Offer letters will be sent to you via email in Late November.

SEEK mentors will:

  • Work with a group of mentors to instruct and manage a classroom of elementary or middle school students
  • Teach general math and science concepts to students at appropriate age level
  • Teach a variety of hands-on engineering toys with curriculum provided by SAE

Program Details

Duration: Three (3) week program + One (1) week training = 4 weeks total

Days:
Monday-Friday, One Saturday or weekday evening for Mandatory Parent Orientation

Mentor Hours:
7:45am-5:00pm (*mentors may be required to stay later on select days)

Dates:
Summer 2013- Specific location dates to be determined
