About

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit association dedicated to the academic and professional success of African American engineering and technical students and professionals. NSBE offers its members leadership training, professional and academic development, mentoring opportunities, community service outreach programs and scholarships.

Mission:
To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.

Organization:
NSBE is a student-managed society, comprised of more than 400 chapters, nationwide and overseas. These chapters are geographically divided into six regions and are governed by a national executive board.

Membership:
NSBE has more than 10,000 college student members and over 2,500 professional members. Our membership has also grown to include more than 1,000 pre-college students as well as chapters in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Europe.

Programs:
NSBE offers programming that broadens experience, while rewarding outstanding achievement. These programs are designed to promote technical excellence, academic and professional development, leadership development and the Pre-College Initiative. NSBE programs and activities include career fairs, graduate school fairs, technical research projects, academic competitions, scholarships and awards.

Conferences:
NSBE annually hosts 18 regional conferences, five professional development conferences, a national, leadership training institute and a national convention which draws more than 12,000 attendees.

Publications:
NSBE produces two national publications for its members: The NSBE Magazine (which includes a special Career Engineer section) and the NSBE Bridge Magazine.

Corporate Support:
NSBE is supported by a Board of Corporate Affiliates (BCA) and major sponsors comprised of leading companies who recruit NSBE members for internship, co-op and full-time employment opportunities. Sponsorship opportunities for corporate supporters exist on the national, regional and chapter levels.

National Headquarters:
A professional staff of 20 persons operates NSBE's World Headquarters in Alexandria, VA.
