The region hosts three major conferences each year: Summer Camping Conference (SCC) for the NSBE Jr. audience; Regional Ledership Conference (RLC) for the chapter leadership; and Fall Regional Confernece (FRC) for all regional members.
Summer Camping Conference
The goal of the Summer Camping Conference (SCC) is to take youth out of their current environment and expose them to university life as well as work in the industry. It’s an exciting time for the pre-college (PCI) students to enjoy the many pre-professional and STEM related workshops, projects, and activities. Students will get a chance to meet other Region II PCI students, NSBE collegiate members and Alumni. A number of activities are planned to promote college, academics, technology, and leadership to pre-college students. Our mission is to increase the number of African American students attending and graduating from college, especially in the fields of engineering and science. The focus of this conference is to impact our community by promoting the math and science fields to students in grades 6-12. For more information on this year's SCC, click here.
Regional Leadership Conference
The National Society of Black Engineers is known for producing and elevating leaders. The Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) is an event aimed at developing Collegiate, NSBE Jr., and Alumni executive board members. RLC allows these NSBE leaders to network and learn what it takes to be an effective NSBE leader through informational workshops and interactive activities. Executive board members are informed about how to tackle their positions throughout their term. They learn, grow, and prepare themselves to take the next step in NSBE leadership. Fall Regional Conference
The Fall Regional Conference (FRC) is a three-day conference held in late October or early November each year, with various events geared at membership development. Some these are PCI competitions such as the Try-Math-a-lon, the Academic Tech Bowl for Collegiate members, and a Professional Development Conference for Alumni members. There is also a series of workshops and seminars, as well as a career and college fair. For more information on this year’s FRC, click here.
