Regional Chair's Welcome
Greetings Region 2,
My name is Tasha Zephirin, and I am honored, excited, and humbled that you chose me as your Regional Chairperson for 2008-2009. I am especially proud to be in this position because of the talent and drive that this region’s members possess. I believe that these qualities are what will put us in the position to set the standard for the organization’s capabilities.
This year, the region will be focusing on developing our leadership pipeline, placing an emphasis on the recruitment, conditioning, and transitioning of new leaders. Furthermore, we will strive to attain an increase in members’ involvement in all areas, particularly: program and conference participation; member and chapter activity; and effective communication across the chapter, regional, and national levels of NSBE.
I therefore encourage all of us to focus on the so-called "little things." These include cultivating a sense of family at the chapter, zone, and regional levels; participating in NSBE programs and benefits; staying committed to our responsibilities, being open to constructive criticism and new ideas; and ensuring that we make our voices heard. Paying attention to these areas will result in great achievements that will be recognized throughout the organization.
We are in the midst of a new era in NSBE, where the organization is growing rapidly and expanding internationally, and it is imperative that we are all involved in the process by staying well-informed about the major decisions on the table, and knowing the leaders we elect. With a strong Regional Executive Board, as well as passionate, dedicated, and out-spoken members like yourselves, we will ensure that Region 2 plays an instrumental role in the development of our beloved organization and leave no room for doubt within the society that we are the hypest region in NSBE.
