Pre-College Initiative

The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is dedicated to raising the profile of Black engineers across the globe. Region IV is actively working toward this goal and with our 3,000 and counting pre-college students we are well on our way to making a huge impact. As an aspiring engineering student, you are an important piece of this puzzle.

As your Regional Pre-College Initiative Chair, I would like to invite you to the 2008 Region IV NSBE Fall Conference to be held in exciting Detroit, Michigan. This year's theme is "Energizing Creativity to Achieve Exponential Growth." The Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Conference will provide a number of vital workshops, activities, and competitions that will focus on Academic Excellence, Technical Excellence, Leadership, Communications, Cultural and Community Awareness, and Continuous Education.

We are excited to present you with the opportunity to compete in the Engineering Design Competition where your team will build a functioning robot or in the Try-Math-A-Lon competition to prove to another school that your school is the brightest. We are proud to host a setting in which our NSBE pre-college students can network and share ideas with other students that are the best and brightest in the world.

Registration is now open and in order to get the discounted, early bird registration rate you have to register by October 19th. Hotel rooms will go fast so to ensure your school receives the NSBE rate, rooms must be booked by 5:00 PM EST, Friday, October 17, 2008.

As we continue to expand the pipeline, the society wants to prepare our future leaders to excel and become great achievers. As we maintain our efforts in the 2008-2009 school year, we must continue to ignite the torch for the future of our society, our communities, and the world at large.

The FRC Planning Committee looks forward to serving you and making this year's Conference a time to remember!

See you there!
