On behalf of the Pre-College Initiative (PCI) Program Committee of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). Our program was started with the goal of helping pre-college students aspire towards higher education, and to consider, in particular, careers in mathematics, the sciences, and engineering. To date, over 3000 students in junior and senior high schools in the Region V have participated in the program, and many have gone to excel in colleges and universities across the country.
We are enthusiastically reaching for higher goals, spurred on by our support and success so far. This summer, we will host our Summer Camping Conference for Region V Pre-College Initiative. This years conference will be held July 20- 22, at The University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri. This camping conference event will focus on academic excellence in middle school, high school and college, technical competitions, and events in which students will learn of the necessities of teamwork. There are also workshops/competitions which draw attention to the various aspects of opportunities in science and engineering, and to the challenges of preparing for college and tomorrow. We are also expanding our role by incorporating workshops to develop skills in the areas of communication and networking.
Your child (student) is cordially invited to participate in this event. Students who are interested in attending should go online and register at https://nol.nsbe.org. If you are a non-member you must create a User Account to register while members should register as usual. The deadline for early registration is July 15, 2007 see attached flyer for more details.
