Q: What is included with the registration fee?
A: The registration fee covers all meals, housing and supply costs. It does not, however, include transportation to Prairie View, TX. (If transportation is made available participants will be notified accordingly)
Q: Who can participate?
A: Any students ages 12-17 may participate at SCC
Q: Who can be a chaperone?
A: Any responsible adult over the age of 21 and remember there must be one chaperone to every 6 students.
Q: Can I register for membership status in order to receive the $25 rate?
A: Yes (with reservations). Membership for attending SCC is determined by your membership status for the 2007-2008 year. The 07 - 08 membership will expire on July 31st. So technically you can register for 07- 08 membership just to get the cheaper rate, however be aware that such membership will expire on July 31st. It may be a better option to pay the $30 rate and then register to become a member for the 2008-2009 year. We would LOVE to have you as a member!!
Q: Where can I find an application?
A: There are no more paper applications. All participants must register online at NSBE Online (NOL) (https://nol.nsbe.org). Sign in and click the tab labeled “Events”. In the bottom corner under “Featured Events” select “2008 Region 5 Summer Camping Conference (SCC)”. Instructions for registration are on this page.
Q: I went to NOL, but I don’t have an account. Can I still register?
A: YES! On the main page at the very bottom click on the link that says “Get a system (Non-member) account” It will ask for some contact information and will allow you to create a username and password. This is now your system account where you can register for SCC.
Q: I went online to register, but it would only let chaperones register.
A: This is purposefully designed, so that students can not register themselves with out a chaperone responsible for that student. We must ensure that there is sufficient supervision for the number of students present. Unless you are a parent who is willing and available to attend SCC as a chaperone, we suggest gathering all of the chaperones from your group and registering everyone at one time.
Q: I cannot locate a chaperone for my area, but I really want to attend SCC.
A: Contact Whitney Pollard at r5pcichair@gmail.com.
Q: Is there a maximum number of students that I can chaperone?
A: Yes, there is a maximum student-chaperone ratio of 6:1. This means that any one chaperone can not be responsible for more than 6 students. NOL restricts each chaperone to this designated amount of students
Q: Is there a limit to the number of students that can participate at SCC?
A: 150
Q: Where can I find permission slips and medical forms?
A: You can find permission slip and medical form in two locations. First, on the SCC Registration page in NOL you will find a link to download and print out any permission slips and medical forms that you may need. Secondly, after you register for SCC you will receive a confirmation email with the forms attached.
Q: Why are the permission slip and medical forms necessary?
A: The permission slip gives consent to NSBE from the student’s parent or legal guardian to allow the child to participate in the NSBE activities. The medical form allows us to have any pertinent medical information on the student in the unlikely event that an emergency arises and medical attention is needed.
Q: What if I forget to bring my permission slip?
A: Unfortunately, you will not be able to participate in any NSBE activity during the weekend and no refunds will be given. We suggest that chaperones collect the forms from each student prior to departing from your cities.
Q: What do I need to bring with me?
A: You need to bring the following items:
Q: Can you walk me through the steps of regsitratioin?
