Letter from Our Chair

Region S.I.X. Family,

It is my pleasure to extend you all this greeting. My name is Michael E. Johnson Jr. and I am both honored and excited to serve as your 2007-2008 Regional Chairperson. This year we will experience the thrill of immense success while becoming stronger leaders more adept at living the mission statement. The time has come for Region 6 to reclaim its stake within the National Society of Black Engineers.

This year’s Regional theme is “The Rebirth of Region 6” and our primary objective is to re‑energize Region 6. The focused areas for improvement are improving overall regional academics, exponentially increasing activity between collegiate, alumni and PCI members, development and strengthening relations between chapters and regional sponsors and also improving communication between the membership and the Region 6 Executive Board. These objectives implemented through the vision of the 2007-2008 National Directives; Cultivate Leadership, Excel Academically, Expand the Pipeline and Mobilize the Membership, will equip us all to play a significant role in personal development as well as community development.

This year is filled with high expectations for Region 6. Fall Regional Conference, a regional premiere event, is slated for November 16th-18th at Microsoft Headquarters in Redmond, Washington. With specialized conferences for Pre-Collegiate, Collegiate & Alumni attendees, this year’s Fall Regional Conference will provide tons of useful programmatic workshops aimed at giving us the tools to excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. Throughout the year the Regional Executive Board will be here to serve all of you. We will be a resource to aid in any and all of your collegiate, professional and community endeavors. This year our strength will be in our numbers, dedication and our willingness to take Region 6 to the next level. The question is no longer “Whose House?”…It is now “Who is in?” Are you ready to be actively engaged in The Rebirth of Region 6? Then take the time out right now to re-new your membership, assist in getting your chapter re-chartered and get active in the REBIRTH!

With Sincerity & Dedication,
Michael E. Johnson Jr.
2007-2008 Region 6 Chairperson
