Pre-College Initiative Programs

PCI Try-Math-A-Lon: Try-Math-A-Lon is a tutoring program meant to foster good study habits, help prepare for standardized test exams such as the ACT and SAT, promote competition and good sportsmanship. The TMAL competition is held between teams composed of high school students in grades 9-12. The purpose of the competition is to help groom TMAL team members for success in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) courses and prepare them for standardized SAT/ACT testing.

TMAL Goals aims to

• Develop a positive attitude towards academic excellence
• Develop a positive attitude towards self
• Stimulate enthusiasm about engineering and science
• Provide a resource for collegiate financial aid information
• Utilize NSBE collegiate and Alumni members as role models

PCI Science Fair: To promote understanding and implementation of the scientific method for students in grades 7-12. It also serves to develop presentation and communication skills.

Summer Camping Conference: The purpose of SCC is to motivate pre-college minority students to pursue higher education and hopefully choose technical fields as their area of study when they get there. It also provides opportunity to introduce pre-college students to careers in engineering and technology through a series of workshops and team-based engineering projects.
