Regional Executive Board Biographies

Michael E. Johnson, Jr., Chairperson:
Michael Johnson Jr. recently received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at California State University, Fullerton in the spring of 2007. He will be furthering his academic career this fall, pursing a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. His previous NBSE leadership experiences include: Regional Vice Chairperson and Chapter President.

Nimaako Brown, Southern Vice-Chair:

 Nimaako Brown is a 4th year student, graduating from the University of Southern California and pursing a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering/Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Her previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Chapter Vice President and Chapter Programs Chair.

Tunji Akilo, Northern Vice-Chair:

Tunji Akilo is a graduating senior at the California State University, Sacramento pursing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. His previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Regional Academic Excellence Chair and Chapter Vice President, Membership Chairperson, and Senator.

Corey Baker, Treasurer:

Corey Baker is a graduating senior at California State University, San Jose pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. His previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Chapter Historian, Telecommunications Chairperson and Pre-College Initiative Chairperson.

Justin Rucker, Secretary:

Justin Rucker is a senior at the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. His previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Chapter Vice President, Pre-College Initiative Chairperson, and Historian.

Beatrice Fankem, Programs Chair:

Beatrice Fankem is a 2nd year graduate student at the University of Arizona the pursing a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. She received her Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2005. Her previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Chapter Programs Chair and Engineering Council Liaison.

Kimberly Cross, Chairperson Emeritus/Parliamentarian:

Kim Cross is a 5th year graduate student at the University of California, Los Angeles pursuing a doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering. She received her Master of Science from UCLA in 2007 and Bachelor of Science from U.C. Riverside in 2003. Her previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Regional Chairperson, Regional Vice Chairperson, and Chapter President and Vice President.

Gabrielle Goodman, Finance Chair:

Gabrielle Goodman is a 5th year student and graduating senior at the University of California, Riverside pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Bio-Engineering and minoring in Neuroscience.

Estevan Whitfield, Assistant Treasurer:

Estevan Whitfield is a 2nd year student at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. He was awarded most active member of his chapter.

Lula Samuel, FRC Chair:

Lula Samuel is a 5th year graduating senior at the University of Washington pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Her previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Regional International Chairperson and Chapter VP employer relations

Shari Lassiter, Publications/Public Relations Chair:

Shari Lassiter is a graduating senior at Arizona State University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering. Her previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Chapter President, Vice President, Treasurer, Publications Chairperson, and Senator.

Omari Christian, Telecommunications Chair:

Omari Christian is graduating senior at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. His previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Chapter Telecommunications Chairperson and Secretary.

Elizabeth Gomez, PCI Chair:

Elizabeth Gomez is a junior at the California State University, Fullerton pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Her previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Regional Summer Camping Conference Chairperson and Chapter Programs Chairperson and Secretary.

Michael McThrow is a 3rd year student at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo pursuing Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. His previous NSBE leadership experience includes being Chapter Pre-College Initiative Chairperson.

Inema Orukari, Academic Excellence Chair:

Inema Orukari is a 4th year student at San Jose State University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. His previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Chapter Parliamentarian and Academic Excellence Chair.

Steve Stevenson, Regional Leadership Chair:

Steven Stevenson II is a 5th year student and graduating senior at the University of California, Los Angeles pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. His previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Chapter President, Public Relations Chairperson, and Banquet Chairperson.

Reginald Archer, International Chair:

Ed Kimbrough, Alumni Extension Chair:

Ed Kimbrough is a Senior Systems Engineer at Raytheon Company. He graduated from Tuskegee University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. His previous NSBE leadership experiences include: Regional Alumni Extension Chair-Elect and Alumni Extension Chapter President, Programs Chairperson, and Membership Chairperson.

Ira Dearing, Advisory Board Chair:

Ira Dearing is the owner of dear things and retired Software Engineer at IBM. She received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from California State University, Chico. She has contributed numerous years of service on the Region VI Advisory Board.
