SENATOR'S CORNER

SOUND OFF………..CALLING ALL REGION SIXERS,
So who plans to join me on the squad this year? What squad you may ask? The “S” squad aka the Region Six Senate. As the General of this squad, I am now recruiting the best and brightest members in region 6 who are:

1) Inspired to make informed decisions as Members of the National Society of Black Engineers.
2) Great communicators
3) Ready to make an impact on the region

However, only TWO dynamic students from each chapter will be eligible to join the squad. Squad members aka senators are designated by each chapter and responsible for casting votes on behalf of the chapter at regional and national meetings.

Who is eligible for the squad? Paid members registered in the respective chartered region 6 chapters…this includes freshman too!

How do you get your official spot on the squad?
1) Stop what you are doing right now….Did you stop yet? Find your chapter president and inform them that they must immediately log on to NOL and designate you as a senator, similarly as they have done with the other chapter officers.
2) Then sign up for basic training in Sacramento California aka Fall Regional Conference.

Chapter presidents be on alert…for these eager members waiting to be part of the “S” squad!

So what so different this year: Well….

1) Your regional parliamentarian, aka the general has been at work already. The bylaws have been updated and 2 bylaw amendments were passed at RLC.

2) That means we will all be putting in work

a. Examining the bylaws regionally and nationally.

b. AND “Playing Elections” that’s right we are actually going to talk about the difference between a quality elections speech with proper answer to questions and election speeches that are filled with fluff promises and no concrete goals or ambition

Just as there are deadlines to register to vote for the presidential election coming up in November…there are deadlines to for chapters to designate there are senator.
