Don Nelson - Director, Corporate Relations
Don Nelson is NSBE’s Director, Corporate Relations. He works closely with the Executive Director, National Executive Board and other NSBE Leaders to assure the stewardship of NSBE’s sponsors and partners as well as the delivery of A-1 Customer Service. As department head for Corporate Relations, he solicits incumbent and new private/public sector funding; plan stewardship and delivery;
Don’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Overseeing department’s efforts and maximizing career fair and recruiting tools. Develop multi-year agreements; Coordinate direct marketing efforts with the Publications Team including solicitation guides and IMPAK preparation. Project Manage Key accounts. Identify and close diverse revenue streams outside of recruiting (marketing, supplier diversity, foundations). With 13 years of experience from firms such as Motorola, AT&T, and US Department of Energy, Don arrives with a technical and sales background having exceeded over $5 Million in new revenue development.
Regarding Academia, Don holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Prairie View A&M University and an MBA in Information Technology from the University of Dallas. Don is a current NSBE Alumni Member with a history as chapter Business Entrepreneur Network Chair in Region 5 and Torchbearer. Outside of NSBE, he is a member of the National Black MBA Association and volunteer for the Fairfax County Emerging Scholars Program. He was also President of Sigma Iota Epsilon Honor Society, graduate of the Summer Undergraduate Program for Engineering Research at Berkeley (SUPERB ) and an adjunct Algebra instructor at Westwood College.
