Njemile A. Crawley - Director of Membership
Njemile A. Crawley is the Director of Membership at the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) World Headquarters. Though new to the staff, her NSBE experience is tremendous, having served as a student leader at the chapter (University of Michigan) and National level, and as an Alumni member. In her role as Director of Membership and Registration, “NJ” is responsible for leading the strategic recruitment, renewal, and benefits program for NSBE’s entire membership. She is also responsible for managing registration of the six Fall Regional Conferences and the annual National Convention.
NJ joined NSBE in August 2008, after spending several years at General Electric. At GE, she graduated from its esteemed technical pipeline program, the Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP), and went on to work in engineering at GE Healthcare’s Maternal Infant Care business. She also served as Diversity Chair of the GE University of Michigan Recruiting Team and was an active member of the GE University of Maryland College Park Recruiting Team.
NJ received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan (UM) and her M.S. in Engineering Management from Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). At UM, she was an MLK community scholar, and continues to serve her alma-mater as Co-chair of the Alumni Advisory Board on Diversity. NJ serves her community even beyond the walls of NSBE, having been recognized as a YMCA Black Achiever in Milwaukee, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public service sorority. NJ also has an active application for her first patent, a stylish and sustainable umbrella designed for improved manufacturability.
