Racheida Lewis, 26 is a PhD student in Engineering Education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University where she is currently interested in researching the possible affects of formal first year programs on students' retention in engineering. She also has a B.S. and M.E. in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia respectively.

Lewis has been a member of NSBE since 2010, became a lifetime member in 2016, and has held a leadership position every year since. Starting at the chapter level as Public Relations Chair for NSBE at VCU, she has served as a NSBE leader in several capacities including chapter President at VCU, two terms on the Region II Executive Board, the National Academic Excellence Committee, and now three terms on the National Executive Board. Lewis feels that it is only right to continuously serve an organization that has allowed her to thrive and get to her current position in life. As National Vice Chair, her goals are to develop sustainable membership recruitment and retention strategies and continue to strengthen the voice of the membership at all levels of the Society.
