Master Planning for Inclusion, Diversity, Excellence and Advancement (IDEA) in Infrastructure
Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, 10:00 – 11:15 a.m.

A new generation of emerging engineers, innovators, and leaders are on the pathway to addressing issues in infrastructure, by collaboratively finding solutions. A holistic approach requires reflecting not only on the engineering techniques used in practice, but also the culture of the Civil Engineering profession and the policies, or regulations, in place. This interactive presentation will examine survey responses from professionals in New Orleans, LA, and Flint, MI regarding local infrastructure issues.  The session participants will be challenged to discuss possible methods that facilitate collaborative environments where comprehensive solutions are determined.  Emphasis will be placed on empowering marginalized stakeholders.
