Nandi Smith is an Applied Scientist for the U.S. Department of Defense, where she also serves as an Ambassador for Career Services, which allows her to help with science and engineering recruitment efforts. She holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Geomatics Engineering Sciences with a minor in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Florida, and is currently pursuing her Masters degree in Geomatics Engineering.

Nandi has been a member of the National Society of Black Engineers since 2011 and has served in several leadership positions. She currently serves as the Secretary for the St. Louis Gateway Professionals Chapter, and has served as the Communications Chair for the chapter in 2017-2020. As an undergraduate student, Nandi has served as the University of Florida NSBE Vice President for two consecutive terms (2012-2014), College of Engineering Council Representative (2011-2012) and Senator (2011-2012).  


Nandi was recently named the Region V Professional Member of the Year and the St. Louis Gateway Professional Member of the Year for the 2019-2020 term. She was also the 2017-2018 St. Louis Gateway Professional Member of the Year. She enjoys inspiring young people to pursue interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and has volunteered for various STEM-related programs & activities throughout the Greater St. Louis area. In addition to STEM, she also enjoys serving the community with her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
