Greetings Region VI Family!

First, I would like to say thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Region VI Chairperson for the 2019-2020 term. I am excited to be a part of this driving force for progress. I have witnessed the impact of the Six, how it empowers our members to become leaders, innovators, and game-changers. More than that, I’ve experienced the way our region supports each of its members, ensuring that we understand what it really means to be part of the NSBE Family.

For several years, we have talked about what it means to tap into the skills, talent, and vast network that encompasses Region VI, and now is the time to capitalize on the opportunities before us. The work we do this term will be guided by the platform of Family, Opportunity, Commitment, Unity, and Servant Leadership (F.O.C.U.S.) from our National Chairperson, Jocelyn Jackson. These all tie into the three National Directives that Madam Chair has charged us with:

1. Lead with Purpose

2. Leverage the NSBE Ecosystem

3. Secure the Future of NSBE

Our plan in Region VI is to merge these directives with my vision to Find the Essence of Region VI. Within the regional vision, we have four core objectives:

1. Chapter Development

2. Member recruitment, retention, and reactivation

3. Regional Engagement

4. NSBE Legacy: Past, Present, and Future

Together, these directives and objectives are intended to serve as guiding tools in our efforts to contribute NSBE’s mission and to the current 10K by 2025 initiative. Recognizing that there is no set path, no “cookie-cutter” approach that will allow us to be a part of the progress, my vision is to capitalize on what our region has to offer: a pool of strong, talented, committed students and professionals, and an intertwined network of career paths from education, to technology, to public policy and beyond. The time has come for us to empower the grassroot leadership approach and pour into each of our members and chapters as become the driving force for change.

We, as a Regional Executive Board, are here to serve you – I strongly believe that the tools and framework come from the daily efforts of our chapters and the experiences of each of our members. NSBE would not exist without its members, nor would the Regional Board, so everything we do should reflect your needs and wishes. At the end of the day, we are member-focused.

I am nothing short of exhilarated to continue doing the work of building community among students, while normalizing Black excellence, Black presence and improving our experience in STEM settings. We're challenging the status quo and empowering our members to be the best that they can be.

Region VI, we are the representation that matters for the next generation; we are trailblazers; we are the ones we've been waiting for.
