NSBE's Spring Scholarship Cycle 2023 is now OPEN. The Spring Scholarship Cycle is open from April 1 - June 30. See Below for the list of available scholarship opportunities.

To view and apply for scholarships, you must:

  • Renew your NSBE membership for the year.
  • Have a verified GPA in your membership profile. (For more information on GPA Verification)
  • Complete and update the following fields in your membership profile: education level, major, citizenship status, chapter and region.

Fall Scholarship Cycle FAQs

Q: When is the Spring Scholarship Cycle open? 

A: NSBE's Spring Scholarship Cycle 2023 will open April 1 - June 30. Visit us during this time for the list of available scholarship opportunities.

Q: How can I determine if I am eligible for a scholarship?

A: Visit https://nsbe.smapply.io/, and on the welcome page, you will find the detailed criteria for each scholarship.

Q: Why can't I access the scholarships when I log into my dashboard?

A: To apply for NSBE scholarship opportunities, you MUST make sure the following task is completed before you can access the applications.

  1. Renew your NSBE membership for the year.
  2. Have a verified GPA in your membership profile.
  3. Complete and update the following fields in your membership profile: education level, major, citizenship status, chapter, and region.

Q: How do I know when my GPA has been verified?

A: When you log into your NSBE portal, you will see a confirmed GPA next to your "self-reported" GPA in the grayed-out box. If the box is blank, your GPA is not verified.

Q: How do I verify my GPA?

A: Learn more about GPA Verification. 

Q: I do not have a chapter advisor, or I am an At-Large member. How can I verify my GPA?

A: You must complete a GPA verification form, have it signed by the Office of Registrar or an Academic Advisor, and send the completed form to scholarships@nsbe.org.

Q: After I submit my GPA verification form, how long does it take to verify it?

A: 1-2 business days.

Q: Three weeks is a long time not to access scholarships. What can I do during the black-out period to ensure I submit my applications on time?

A:

  1. Make sure your GPA has been verified on your NSBE profile.
  2. Review the blank Fall Scholarship Cycle applications and begin writing your essays and obtaining required documents such as recommendation letters.
  3. Update your Resume.

Q: Will you accept my scholarship application if it is emailed?

A: We cannot accept emailed applications once the system is back up. All applicants must submit applications through the apply.nsbe.org scholarship portal.

How to Verify Your GPA

Collegiate/Graduate Members 

Members will self-report their GPA on their MyNSBE profile. All members must complete a GPA Verification Form, have it signed by a university advisor, counselor, or an official from the Registrar's office and email it to scholarships@nsbe.org. This form MUST be signed by the Office of the Registrar or a University Advisor.

NSBE World Headquarters (WHQ) no longer accepts emailed transcripts, mailed transcripts, unofficial transcripts, or unsigned GPA Verification forms.


NSBE Jr. Members

Members will self-report their GPA on their MyNSBE profile. All members must complete a GPA Verification Form, have it signed by a university advisor, counselor, or an official from the Registrar's office and email it to scholarships@nsbe.org. This form MUST be signed by the Office of the Registrar or a University Advisor.

Academic Pyramid of Excellence (APEx)

To become an APEx member, you must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 or higher. GPA's are measured on a 4.0 grading scale.

There are three APEx Levels:

  • APEx Honors: 3.6 - 4.0
  • APEx Torchbearer: 3.2 - 3.5
  • APEx Excel: 3.0- 3.1
