At the heart of society, the Programs Zone is responsible for keeping members on the pre-collegiate, collegiate and professional levels engaged year-round with interactive series of events that nurture culturally responsible Black Engineers. The Programs Zone has a unique ability to positively impact the community in a multitude of ways.
The retention of Black Engineers on the collegiate level is fortified through the Academic Excellence programming. Support of Black-owned businesses, and education about how to excel in different fields, have content in the business diversity sector of programs.
The Technical OutReach and Community Help (TORCH) chair governs technical outreach and the raising of community awareness on topics including and beyond engineering.
For students in grades K–12, the Programs Zone pays it forward through our Pre-College Initiative Program, which provides competitions, supplemental curricula and professional development to assist the next generation in being the best they can possibly be.

Overall, the Programs Zone is responsible for keeping NSBE’s membership engaged in and informed about STEM and cultural topics, through activity.
