Letter From the Regional Finance Chair

Dear Prospective Partner:

It is with great pleasure that I extend this invitation on behalf of Region I of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) to partner with us for the 2023–2024 fiscal year. Region I seeks to develop meaningful and strategic partnerships with our sponsors. With your support, we will positively impact the global engineering community by focusing on the advancement of underrepresented minorities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). NSBE’s mission is embraced by our more than 14,000 members. Our growth has been facilitated by the leadership training, professional and scholastic development, mentorship opportunities, community service programs and scholarship opportunities that NSBE provides in collaboration with organizations like yours.

Region I consists of Collegiate, NSBE Jr. and NSBE Professionals chapters and has the most culturally diverse geographic area in the Society, as New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are among the most diverse states in the U.S. We also have the most international members in the Society. Our region, known as “Region FIRST,” has a history of innovative ideas and exemplary students. This region was among the first to offer a resume boot camp, helping increase the quality and effectiveness of our members’ resumes. Moreover, Region I was also the first to host a Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) and a Fall Regional Conference (FRC).

Your organization’s partnership is paramount in assisting Region I in fulfilling our regional goals while complying with NSBE’s national directives. By partnering with us, your organization will play an important role in promoting continuous growth and learning as well as empowering leaders who think innovatively and communicate effectively.

This Partnership Guide provides an in-depth look into FRC programming initiatives, workshops and other events and activities your organization can participate in and sponsor during the conference and throughout the year. If you have any questions about the information outlined here, please contact me using the information below.

Sincerely

Romeo Parreott

About Region I

NSBE’s Region I comprises the U.S. Northeast states — New Jersey, New York and the New England states — as well as Eastern Canada (Quebec, Ontario and the Maritimes). Our International Affinity Region, Western Africa, includes Ghana and Nigeria. In Addition, Region I has the largest number of Ivy league institutions in the Society and the largest international membership.

Partner with Region I to gain invaluable opportunities to maximize your organization’s visibility, recruit top diverse talent and support events that both encourage and support Region I members. With your support, we will positively impact the global engineering community with a focus on the advancement of underrepresented minorities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). In exchange, you will gain access to the best and brightest diverse engineering talent to foster a well-rounded workplace capable of innovative thinking, empowered leadership and continual growth.

The overall growth of NSBE has been facilitated by the participation in and support of our events provided by various companies, foundations, government agencies and academic institutions. Approximately 300 exhibitors and sponsors participate in NSBE events every year. These events have benefited our partners and supporters by offering access for recruitment of top engineering students and technical professionals as well as providing a forum to showcase the exhibitors’ and sponsors’ products, technology and professional development opportunities. Region I looks forward to creating a strong and effective partnership with you!

Region I Demographic

NSBE has a very diverse membership, which is grouped into segments based on the members’ academic progression: NSBE Jr. members, who are middle school and high school students; the collegiate members, who make up the largest group within the Society; the technical professionals; and the International members who reside in our International Affinity regions.
