The Sixiest Region in the Society
Hello SIX HOUSE Family,
My name is Elizabeth Eyeson. I am a first-year Computer Science Ph.D. student at the University of California, Los Angeles, and am an alumna of the University of Colorado Boulder (Sko Buffs!), with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
I am excited and honored to serve you as your 2023-2024 Region VI Chairperson! 4 years ago, I began my NSBE journey by attending my first meeting at the encouragement of the CU Boulder NSBE advisor and my mentor Dr. Tanya Ennis. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have served in various leadership roles within the society ranging from Membership Chair to President on the CU Boulder NSBE Chapter Executive Board and the 2022-2023 Region VI Vice Chairperson. I am grateful for the mentors and friends I have made along the way and hold NSBE dear to my heart.
I am the Region VI Chair, because you recognized my capacity to take Region VI to the next level. It is my duty to ensure that Region VI thrives and enables us to “increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community” within the Region.
My vision for Region VI is BASE — Bridge, Accelerate, Sustain & Elevate.
The 4 Tenets of BASE:
1. Bridge Our Membership: How can Region VI be a better connected region regardless of geography, institution, nationality, ethnicity, career stage and other differences? SIX HOUSE strong!
2. Accelerate Our Academic And Professional Success: What initiatives can Region VI implement to put members on a fast-track to academic and professional success? Embody Game Change 2025!
3. Sustain Our SIX: How can Region VI leave a legacy that will impact the next generation of Black STEM professionals? Envision NSBE 100.
4. Elevate Our Brand: How can the Region VI brand rise in the NSBE imagination? Keep it SIXY!
I am looking forward to a six-cessful term serving you as Chairperson. WHOSE HOUSE?! SIX HOUSE!!!!!!
