Region I Chair

Alaisha Alexander is an undergraduate senior studying Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Within her major, she is interested in design process, manufacturing, sustainability, and engineering management. She is also pursuing a minor in Design and an additional minor in Theater Arts.


Alaisha has been a member of NSBE since 2014 when introduced to the community at a chapter level. She started as the Freshman Committee Co-Chair within MIT’s chapter and inspired by the scope and impact of the organization began to move up within leadership. She has served at all levels including as a Chapter Programs Chair, Zone Secretary, and Regional Programs Chair as well as on the National Academic Excellence Committee. NSBE speaks to her passion in the advancement of Black engineers in the STEM community and has supported her academically, professionally, and personally. She considers it an honor and a privilege to serve an organization and a membership that has not only supported her but supports the development of a diverse and impactful STEM workforce. As Region 1 Chair, she plans to focus on membership engagement and retention and work on reestablishing foundational tools to support innovation and leadership for Region 1 membership.
