NSBE Mourns The Fatal Shooting at The University of Virginia

NSBE Family,

Our hearts go out to our members on the campus of the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, as they struggle in the aftermath of the tragic violence that took the lives of three African American students and wounded two other students there on Sunday, Nov. 13.

The task of unpacking this immensely sorrowful event to understand why and how it happened has just begun. But as we seek solutions to the shameful wave of recent shootings in institutions of learning in the United States, we pray for peace and healing now.

The National Society of Black Engineers stands with its UVA Chapter as we continue our mission to empower Black people and Black communities through academic excellence, professional success, cultural responsibility, and love. We pray that our family will be firm in our commitment to promote and exemplify NSBE’s values.
