Dear Prospective Partner:
My very first regional NSBE event began Nov. 16, 2018, with a five-hour drive from Knoxville, Tennessee, to Montgomery, Alabama. Getting off the bus to see signs that said, “Welcome to the Region III Fall Regional Conference” and a sea of NSBE students and professionals checking into their hotel, was the first time I understood what the upperclassmen meant when they said I would feel at home. Seeing everyone switch to business professional clothing and listen to elevator pitches the next day helped me understand what it meant to be surrounded by greatness. This is the greatness that gave me the push to want to be great. That weekend was more than just a career fair or workshops, it was a space where I evolved. Attending my first Fall Regional Conference led me to embrace my NSBE community and rely on it, as I navigated the road to an engineering career. NSBE has brought me not only that sense of community but the understanding of myself that I have grown to associate with the organization throughout my time serving as a leader.
Today, as an Industrial Engineering senior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, I still have that NSBE community that I met in Montgomery, Alabama. I have built my personal, campus and professional communities with people that I found during my time in this organization. This sense of family and CommUNITY is what our members, our guests and our partners will feel from day one of the 2024 Convention.
With that, I welcome you to partner with the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) for our 50th Annual Convention, themed “#NSBE50: Engineering CommUNITY,” from March 20–24, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. At this year’s Convention, we will focus on building up our members by supporting and strengthening the relationship among all demographics of NSBE. With your support, our members will experience programming and events designed to help them develop techniques to strengthen their:
Since 1975, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) has led the charge “to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.” In this Partnership Guide, you will learn about our organization, our plans for the Convention and the impact we plan to make on our members and partners in Atlanta. Your support is vital and will be a game-changer for many of our members.
Join us in Atlanta, Georgia, March 20-24, 2024, for NSBE's 50th Annual Convention. On behalf of NSBE, I thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to working with you for many years to come!
Sincerely,
Destinee Carter
