David Varnado

David Varnado serves as the Manager of Pre-College Programs at the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and has committed over a decade of his life to the health and wellness of children of all ages and abilities. His work at NSBE includes management of the Pre-College Initiative program (PCI) which includes all national programming and partnership development relative to the K - 12 demographic. The PCI program pairs NSBE's Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) with NSBE Jr., a program that encompasses more than 270 active chapters of 3rd - 12th graders across five countries, and is designed to increase access and preparedness for students to help NSBE reach it's goal to graduate 10,000 black engineers annually by 2025. A native of Fort Washington, Maryland, David earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennesee. Upon graduation, he returned home to combine his passion for sports and developing children with his need to serve his community. David has been an active volunteer including various roles ranging from Special Olympics coach, mentor, and board member of his local Boys & Girls Club. These roles have cultivated his creative strategies and adaptive approaches to inclusion and recruiting in underserved populations.
